The Tax-Property Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, Article 2-213 provides that the Department of Assessments make copies of property (tax) maps available to the public at a reasonable fee that reflects the cost of reproduction. The following procedure should accommodate the aforesaid requirements.

The copies of full size maps are available on an as needed basis. These map copies may be obtained through the vendor selected by the Maryland Office of Planning, Planning Data Services Division. Each county office will be given a sufficient amount of order forms designed specifically for ordering full size copies of maps.

Our agency will only provide 8 1/2" x 11" photocopies of a portion of a map to the general public. Persons requesting multiple 8 1/2" x 11" portions of a map should be advised of the availability of a full size map which can be purchased from the vendor.

All copies will be produced on photo reproduction equipment located in the assessment office. In the event that this equipment is temporarily inoperative, no prints will be provided.

The use of copiers outside the assessment office is forbidden, unless that office normally shares equipment with another agency at the same location.

Copies will be produced from the public reference set only. The maps from that set will be removed from the binder or holder and folded to accommodate the photocopy machine.

Orders for copies of maps will be accepted during normal office hours. Orders may be processed at the time of the request or scheduled for later that day or next day's printing. It will be at the discretion of the supervisor to determine processing time.

Generic receipts obtained from local stationery store will be used for each sale. Instructions for handling of money from map sales will be issued by the Department of Assessments, Accounting Section.

The fee for each print will be no charge for the first three copies, $1 for four copies and $0.25 for each copy beyond four.
