for Maryland
UCC1:
While the Department
of Assessments and Taxation does not require use of any particular form
for financing statement filings, we strongly recommend use of
the standard National UCC Financing Statement Amendment (Form UCC1).
These instructions are meant to supplement the line-by-line instructions
on the back of that form.
Items A and B
We strongly recommend that you complete items A and B. This is name and
address to which we will return the original document after we have recorded
it. Also, if there is an error or other problem with the filing, it will
allow us to contact you.
Item 1a
If the organization is a registered organization, you can search for the
exact legal name of the organization on our web site at http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/ucc-charter.
Item 1e
This item should correspond to the prefix on the organization's Department
ID number (e.g. A12345678). You may abbreviate the type of organization.

Item 1g
This item should start with the two-letter postal abbreviation for Maryland,
MD, followed a space and the Department ID number (1 letter + 8 digits
-- e.g. MD A12345678). You can search for the Department ID number on
our web site at http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/ucc-charter.
Item 6
If this item is checked, the filing should not be made with the Department.
The filing should be made with the circuit court clerk for the county
in which the real property is located.
Item 7
Maryland does not perform searches of its records. You may contract with
a private company that will do a search
for you, search the records via our web site at http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/ucc-charter,
or search the records in any of our 24 local assessment offices. Click

This
should be left blank for statements filed with the Department.
Items 13-15
If
any of the boxes in Item 13 are checked, the statement should be filed
with the circuit court clerk in the county in which the real property
is located. You can get the name and address of the owner of record
from our Business Database at http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/rp_rewrite.

This item should be completed for financing statements filed with the
clerk of court, not the Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Filing Fees
Filings
of 8 or fewer pages $25.00
Filings of 9 or more pages $75.00
Expedited service fee: When
you request expedited service by mail or submit a document by fax, we
will process the document by the end of the business day following the
day we receive the document. If you deliver the document in person to
our Preston Street office, we will normally process the document while
you wait. The expedited service fee for financing statement filings is
$50 in addition to regular filing fees.

If you want expedited service, write "Expedited Service Requested" on
the envelope and on a note accompanying the filing. Make your check or
money order payable to State Department of Assessments and Taxation.
Fax
We
will process documents you submit by fax in an expedited manner and
will charge you normal filing fees plus the expedited service fee. The
fax you send us should contain a cover sheet with your MasterCard or
Visa account number, expiration date, name as it appears on the charge
card, and signature to authorize the charge. Fax to (410) 333-7097.
In Person
You may bring documents to our office at 301 West Preston Street, in
8th floor, Baltimore, Maryland. Our offices are open Monday through
Friday, excluding State holidays. Walk-in
service hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm.
